Builder Ronny Mauch took the time to write a review and send photos of his build so other people in search of a project build could learn more. It took Ronny a year on and off (he travels a lot on his job) to finish his black wonderment. He said it was a great fun but a bit trying at times, but he got ‘er done!

"Thanks go out to Phil for all of his help with my Street Tracker. As an ole ex-flat track racer I truly had a blast with my build. I was able to locate and purchased a stock 2003 Harley Sportster XL-1200S EVO with only 7200 miles as my donor bike. This “S” Model Sportster came standard with high performance cams and dual spark plug-high compression heads from HD which adds to the performance.
Phil’s parts are for the most part bolt-on with the understanding that every bike has its slight differences. Believe me I am no custom bike builder, but having wrenched on bikes many years ago these slight differences were no big issue to overcome. Finding an identical HD 13 spoke mag wheel for the rear to match the front was somewhat of a challenge. Phil got me to a point where this stock HD 13 spoke front mag wheel would convert to the rear. As you can see I have not yet painted these wheels.
The Supertrapp pipes sound GREAT and were a breeze to install. However, they are not provided with a heat shield for leg protection. I had to get a little creative like many other Street Tracker builders these days have done by adding my home shop built SS heat shield. As you can see I had to relocate my ”S” coils from under the stock tank to the left side to clear the new fuel tank. (Stock models don’t have this issue.) My stock front disc brake lines turned out to be a bit too short to allow the conversion to Phil’s flat track bars, but our local V Twin bike shop had the solution with stainless steel braided hoses and fittings from Drag Specialties that look great.
I selected Phil’s Gen II tank, tail & battery cover body work in black gel coat (one of the last that Phil finished in black). The wait was worth it when I saw the quality Phil put into these fiberglass products. I also selected graphics, fork brace, bar end mirror, mud guard, grips & shocks all from Phil. I added Goodyear Eagle flat track racing tires that look great and ride nice. Both front & rear tires have Dyna Beads inserted to eliminate external wheel balancing weights. It took me a while to get the information needed for my chain and sprocket conversion kit, but then I found the guys from Zippers Performance Products who provided all the help I needed. I also added other misc. parts from Speed & Sport & Motorcycle Superstore; but kept the stock handlebar controls, stock gauges and stock headlight (at least for now).
In my opinion Phil’s parts are the best looking, best quality and best priced Street Tracker parts on the market. Phil was a pleasure to work with and was always available to discuss my build questions with me. I am very proud of how my Harley Sportster XL-1200S Street Tracker turned out. It is without a doubt a hoot to ride.”
Thanks for looking
