VINTAGE RACING MINI BIKES

This is the Wedge on a wider Acme frame with a longer wheel base and big 10" tires for the Mod class. This Wedge shows my built-in gas tank. The capacity is a bit less than a gallon

Wedge body with gas tank

If you wish a body with a built-in tank please know this is an expensive option because I have the tanks protected with an anti-ethanol coating so you can use just any old gas with out worrying about the tank melting away and paint bubbling. Includes plated filler neck, gas cap with check valve and a petcock.

Vintage Mini Race Body -
The Wedge

The Wedge Outlaw Minibike National Race Body was created for the National Vintage Mini Bike Championship Race held annually in Nebraska. Few if any old minis had bodies-they just had seat cushions. This one has built-in number panels. The tail is short and is reinforced with buttressing angles for strength because minis tend to flip over backward and racing is hard on fiberglass. The overall body shape allows access to the engine and covers the upper rear area of the frame, which is a dead zone design-wise in rigid frame minis. The Wedge body fits; Azusa, Manco, Northern Tool, Acme or any old school rigid frame mini. A seat cushion (with a fiberglass base) Velcros to the fiberglass body. This body mounts with four bolts.

Every Wedge body I've installed needed edge mods to fit stuff like; gas tank, carb, and/or filter-this is no big deal but just do it before you paint. Contents:

Body
Seat cushion
Velcro for cushion-to-body mounting
Four 1/4" button bolts and Lock nuts

Wedge body only, no gas tank

I know this is a lot of money for an old mini but material costs dictate this price

$295

Mini Frame package

The web introduction of my Mini Champ and Wedge mini bodies has sparked interest and exposed the fact that folks don't necessarily know where to go to get all the rest of the stuff to make a running mini. To that end I want to offer you a package with every little part to make a complete bike. This is a bolt together package. The only labor is welding on the kick stand, cutting chain to length and paint (because the frame and forks comes in raw metal.) This should be a fun project especially if you have an interested young boy or girl. (If you are a low patience type - you may want to read Robert M. Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle.)
Frame-New style Azusa frame with forward handle bar forks and stem bolt/nut. (If this is to be an adult only mini-think about heating and widening the bars-see the bars on my small wheel Mini Wedge.)
  • Frame/fork/stem
  • Kick stand
  • Foot peg pkg
Wheels and axles - I am a big believer in big 10" wheels because that's the suspension system for rigid frame minis. Instead of threaded at both-end-rods for axles, I am including 5/8"-18 bolts with nyloc nuts!
  • 10" front chrome wheel with bearings
  • 10" rear chrome wheel with bearings and 72T sprocket
  • 5/8-18 x 7 front axle w/nyloc nut
  • 5/8-18 x 10 rear axle w/nyloc nut
  • (2) 1 1/8" front axle spacers
  • 1 7/8 rear axle spacer, right side
  • 1 1/8" rear axle spacer, left side
Chain
  • #35 Chain with link
Brake (rear only)
  • Drum brake assy
  • Brake lever
  • Brake cable
  • Brake cable swivel clamp
Throttle
  • Twist throttle w/ cable
  • Left grip
  • Cable stop for carb
  • On/Off kill switch
Price for frame kit is $549

Body/seat
Pick either my Mini Champ ($325)
or Wedge Body ($295)

10" Tires and tubes
Two race style mini tires and tubes are ($118 pair)

Power package - I recommend a bolt-on Comet Torq-A-Verter clutch with the engine of your choice
