Kawasaki style Z1R fairingThis is my original style Z1R fairing. You'll find the quality superb. Here's how I built it. I found an original 8 hole Z1R fairing on Ebay. [Be warned there are some crude and incorrect copies floating around.] I had to do major repairs and while doing so, made some improvements. The Japanese didn't fully emphasize the mold line where top and sides meet. Ever so slightly, I brought out those lines. The trailing wings of most quarter fairings are weak and break easily. I added a small decks on top of the wing ends. This adds great strength and is hardly noticeable, hidden under the shield. The body is made from hand-laid fine woven glass cloth. This is how all good fairings are made. If you see course cloth, matt or chopped glass-that's a cheapy. This fairing has a 7" headlight opening. If you are going to retro fit the fairing for an 8" light, you'll have to remove 1/2" from the inside headlight opening radius. This is a universal mounted fairing. If you have a Z1R you'll have to create original style bottom mounts. Otherwise use our mounting kit. We drill the shield mounting holes for you. Others make you drill the holes. It's a giant pain to line everything just so. Here's something unique. I have devised a mounting system which eliminates mounting bolts through the fairing body-it's based on "bonding bolts." Notice those bolts with the big perforated heads-those are bonding bolts. The idea is to affix them to the inside of the fairing body with 2-ton epoxy. Slick huh? The shield is smoke colored and the best quality in the world. It is made of Rohm & Haas G-High Grade Acrylic Plexiglas. It is exceptionally durable and resistant to UV rays.
